We selected you for this campaign because they believe your life is aspirational. What do you feel makes your life aspirational? Why did you decide to participate in this campaign?
I’ve never thought of myself as aspirational- I just try and do me. I decided to participate in this campaign for two reasons: first, I firmly believe you cannot grow unless you move out of your comfort zone. Putting on a swimsuit in front of a bunch of strangers and acting totally natural was one of those moments of growth for me. I wanted to show that you don’t have to be a certain body shape to be considered a swimsuit model. Second, when I was approached to be part of this campaign, the messaging really connected with me. Being a #swimsuitmodel is just about putting on a swimsuit. It’s such a simple concept but it’s a matter of helping people shift their perception and that’s why I knew that I had to be part of this campaign.
When I talked to Krista, Swimco’s Director of Marketing and E-Commerce Experience, she told me that to become a #swimsuitmodel, I just needed to put on a swimsuit. That answer changed my whole perception of what this campaign was, and I knew that I had to be a part of it.
What did you enjoy about working with Swimco on this campaign?
I loved every minute of this experience. The Swimco crew and other models were amazing and motivating throughout the whole day. It meant so much to be to be part of this campaign, and it is one of the highlights of my blogging career. I felt like a princess!
Did you discover anything about yourself?
This experience inspired me to feel more confident and to be comfortable in my own skin.
If you would say one thing to someone who may not be confident with their body, what would it be?
You are beautiful in your own skin, so stop comparing yourself to others. That was my biggest downfall growing up- I would see what I thought was the ideal body shape and try to mimic that by working out or eating differently, and then I would feel terrible! I am the way I am, you are the way that you are, and the only person you can compare yourself to is yesterdays you. Are you doing something today that will benefit tomorrows you?
