If you’re like us, this time of year can get hectic – holiday parties, gift exchanges, dinners, and other great holiday adventures! With all the fun going on, we have definitely been neglecting our gift wrapping. Thankfully, we love a good DIY, so our simple gift bags can get an upgrade with cute prints. We’ve done ours in a beach motif, but you can do any designs!
What you need:
- Brown paper gift bags
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brushes
- Foam sheets (you can also find pre-cut shapes at your local craft or dollar store)
- Glue stick
- Scissors or an exacto knife
- Sharpie and a ballpoint pen (optional)
- Tissue paper and ribbon (optional)
Cut shapes into the foam. Make the shapes as simple or complicated as you’d like.
Glue the foam cut outs to the cardboard and let dry. Then if you like, you can use a ballpoint pen to draw designs into your foam. Press firmly to ensure your design shows.
Using the paint brush, lightly paint over the foam. Try to keep it evenly spread. Bonus points if you use multiple colours!
Press your stamps onto the paper bag. It can take a few tries to get the hang of this, so try a few test runs on extra paper. Once you’ve got the technique down, Repeat Step 3 to continue stamping.
Let your beautiful design dry and then you’re ready to stuff the bag with goodies. This stamping technique works great on brown wrapping paper too.
If you want to emphasize your stamps, take a Sharpie and add outlines or other elements. Finish with some ribbon and tissue paper for a really sweet gift bag.
Happy Holidays everyone!
