There are so many more options now for post mastectomy swimwear! No matter what your preferences, we can help you find a great swimsuit that will have you swimming with confidence.
After breast surgery, the best place to start looking for swimwear is with styles made specifically for post mastectomy. These thoughtfully designed pieces have openings for prostheses, support where you might need it, and additional coverage in the areas that typically scar after the procedure. Often, post mastectomy suits will have a higher neckline for this reason. Other high neckline options that are not specifically post mastectomy but that also work well are the Magicsuit Cameron Ringed Underwire Tankini and the Nicole Scarf Tankini.
If high neck coverage isn’t one of your concerns there are some options that are not specifically for post mastectomy that could still work for you. The Seafolly DD Cup Halter offers comfortable support with wide soft straps, and the openings on the sides for soft cups are large enough for inserts. Azura’s Panama Soft DD Cup Halter is similar and has good side coverage.
The Horizontal Splice One Piece and Fantasia Aqua Tank, both by TYR, are both excellent for support with built-in shelf bras with pockets for inserts, chlorine resistant fabrics and UPF protection. Both are great swimsuits for activity and leisure.
If you don’t want to wear your everyday prostheses in the pool, the Amoena Weighted Form is designed for water. If you have smaller cups or just need a little evening out, the Breast Friends are a perfect alternative. They are light weight and come in a variety of shapes for any neckline.
Of course, you certainly don’t need a prosthetic to enjoy yourself in the water! If you are forgoing an insert, look for higher necklines to prevent any possible gaping along the top of your swimwear. Tiered swimwear is also a great option, as the layers of fabric help detract from any difference in your chest.
This month, in partnership with Look Good Feel Better®, we have our Bids For Bikinis charity auction, with artwork by famous Canadians. All proceeds from the auction will go to Look Good Feel Better® and their program empowering women to manage the effects that cancer and its treatment can have on their appearance.
