Once again, Kelly Slater has proven that he is the best surfer to walk the planet. At 39-years-old, the 10X world champ has just received his third Quiksilver Pro title. Well, I’m back right-side-up after my week in Australia. While in Sydney, I started each morning with a run from Bondi Beach, past Icebergs Pool, around to Tamarama (my son Brett’s favourite surf spot) and on to Bronte Beach. Then I’d stop at my favourite coffee shop (Gustos in Bondi) for a “large flat white”, which is coffee with steamed milk, but oh-so-much more. Add a bowl of Bircher (yogurt, berries, and oatmeal) and I was in breakfast heaven. If only Starbucks did it like this! Then it was off to work…
Whether you live in the prairies, the mountains, or by the sea, photographer Eugene Tan brings the beauty of beach culture right to your computer. Based in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, ‘Euge’ (as the locals call him) photographs waves, surfing contests, and other ocean activities. He can be found in the water most mornings, capturing sunrise surf sessions. Check out Euge’s website (www.aquabumps.com) or his facebook page, and prepare to be blown away by his photos and the stories behind them.
Good morning! Or “good afternoon”, depending where you are. I’m at Bondi Beach on the East Coast of Australia. The forecast is for 36°C, ABOVE ZERO! A welcome change from the -27°C my fellow Calgarians endured this week.
I just had one of the best weeks of my life! Some friends and I drove north from Sydney, Australia, to arrive at beautiful Byron Bay in New South Wales. 10 hours, 9 surfboards, 5 guys, and zero air-conditioning – true road trip comfort!
