A year ago I joined the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) when a new chapter opened in Calgary. I wasn’t sure what to expect at the time, but it has turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself and for the company in my 30 years in business!
Our Calgary chapter is comprised of female Presidents of multi-million dollar companies including Tim Horton’s franchises, insurance, printing, e-learning, interior design and private health care. At our monthly meetings we share ideas, help each other solve issues, laugh a lot, perhaps shed a tear, and generally “release the genius of the group”.
I’ve learned so much and developed friendships with some amazing women. Naturally, when the opportunity presented itself to additionally join one of WPO’s four North American ‘Platinum’ chapters, I jumped. This second group of inspiring women hail from New York, Chicago, Portland, California and Calgary. Our first meeting was this month is Seattle.
What an experience! My head is full of ideas and my heart is full of good stuff. Now to sort out my copious notes and incorporate the great ideas shared by others into our business. I can’t wait for our next meeting in February that will take place somewhere hot (yahoo!).
Want to know more, or even join the Sisterhood of Women Business Owners? Check out the WPO website or just ask me! The experience will accelerate the growth of your business and be personally fulfilling.
And if running a business isn’t your thing, find another group or avenue to continue your learning. Take a class, join a book club, take on a new sport… just keep on growing!
