My adventures continued after my recent week at surf camp in Hawaii. From there I travelled to Sydney, Australia to meet with our friends from Seafolly. This year the line launch took place at the Bronte Beach Surf Club. It was the perfect setting to showcase Seafolly’s beautiful new 2013 swimwear collection. The sun was [...]

Swimco just kicked off our 2012 swimwear season, with our annual fashion show for Fit Experts in Calgary and Vancouver. The “oohs” and “aahs” were plentiful as we took in the many new brands, styles, and colors for the upcoming year. The expanded selection of retro styles was a hit on the runway, and also [...]
This month we are celebrating the idea that women of any age can wear a bikini. “Arggg”, you say. And yes, I know what you mean. My girlfriends are 50′ish. They are youthful, they exercise, and they take good care of themselves. There is no reason they shouldn’t bare a bit more skin on the [...]
I recently enjoyed a memorable evening, honored to be one of 20 “Leaders of Tomorrow”, as chosen by Business in Calgary Magazine. The function was held at the beautiful Metropolitan Centre with 250 people in attendance including my son Brett and Katrina (two of our three “Marketeers”), Kitty (Buyer Extraordinaire), and a surprise guest, Sharon Norris, friend and Seafolly distributor. Thank you Sharon, for taking time out of your very busy schedule to fly in for the dinner as a show of support for us.
Each year Swimco partners with Lethbridge College and awards a $500 scholarship to the Design student who we feel has created the best swimwear design. This year’s recipient is Amanda Harnos (see her winning design above). Swimco’s Buying Team selects the entry that we think would compete best in the swimwear marketplace. These are high standards, as we see thousands of suits from countless lines from around the world! Amanda’s design was fresh, on-trend, and we think it would appeal to her target customer. Well done Amanda!
Seafolly epitomizes Australia’s beach lifestyle with its fashion focused swimwear. It’s been a staple on Australian beaches for 35 years. Swimco interviews Seafolly Designer Genelle Walkom to get a closer look into the heart of the brand, and what it takes to design Seafolly’s beautiful, well-fitting swimwear.
Well, I’m back right-side-up after my week in Australia. While in Sydney, I started each morning with a run from Bondi Beach, past Icebergs Pool, around to Tamarama (my son Brett’s favourite surf spot) and on to Bronte Beach. Then I’d stop at my favourite coffee shop (Gustos in Bondi) for a “large flat white”, which is coffee with steamed milk, but oh-so-much more. Add a bowl of Bircher (yogurt, berries, and oatmeal) and I was in breakfast heaven. If only Starbucks did it like this! Then it was off to work…
Good morning! Or “good afternoon”, depending where you are. I’m at Bondi Beach on the East Coast of Australia. The forecast is for 36°C, ABOVE ZERO! A welcome change from the -27°C my fellow Calgarians endured this week.
Swimco Fit Experts learn to live, breathe, and dream swimwear. Swimwear is their passion. So when they “ooh” and “aah” at a particular style during our Swimco Product Knowledge Fashion Show, I know that style will be a hit in our stores.
I just got back from the Miami Swim Show held each year at this time in South Beach. This annual show is our only opportunity to see all of the major swim lines at once for the coming year. There are hundreds of product lines and thousands of swimwear Buyers from around the world!
